Ayurvedic medicine is very famous in Sri Lanka. The name Ayurveda comes from the combined cultural words "Ayu" (life) and "Veda" (science or knowledge). It is one of the oldest forms of medicine in the world. Many ailments can be cured by local medicine. It is a traditional Hela system.
