Sri Lanka is a bird`s paradise. Sri Lanka`s bird populations have increased due to natural habitats such as forests, grasslands, wetlands and seas. There are about 439 species of birds in the country, of which 33 are endemic and 203 are migratory. Several species of birds such as pigeons, parrots, owls, starlings, flycatchers are found in Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka is one of the best birding destinations in the world. Kumana National Park is the main bird sanctuary in Sri Lanka. The Kalametiya Bird Sanctuary, Sinharaja Rainforest, Kithulgala Forest Reserve and Yala are also very popular.
