Udawalawe is a national park. It is located on Rathnapura district within boundary of Uva and Sabaragamuwa province. It is a habited place. It is naturally habited by water birds and Sri Lankan elephants. It is a popular tourist destination which is the sixth largest animal sanctuary and the third most visited park in the country. The main attraction at Udawalawe however are the elephants. There is an elephant orphanage for orphaned elephants called “Udawalawe Elephant Transits Home”. Its’ duty is to release orphaned elephants back to wild. Visitors of elephant orphanage will be able to see how the child elephants are feeding milk by the staff using milk bottles. It will be an emotional sense for tourists.
