Udawalawe is a national park. It is located on Rathnapura district within boundary of Uva and Sabaragamuwa province. It is naturally habited by water birds and Sri Lankan elephants. The main attraction at Udawalawe however are the elephants. The Udawalawe National Park is renowned for its stunning natural beauty. The Udawalawe National Park is home to many more species of Sri Lankan wildlife which include the endemic Toque Macaque, Sloth Bear and the Sri Lankan Leopard is seen very rarely. There are numerous species of birds, some of which are endemic along with fish, reptiles and amphibians. There is an elephant orphanage for orphaned elephants called “Udawalawe Elephant Transits Home”. Its’ duty is to release orphaned elephants back to wild. Visitors of elephant orphanage will be able to see how the child elephants are feeding milk by the staff using milk bottles. It will be an emotional sense for tourists.
