Bundala National Park is about 85 km from Tangalle. Bundala National Park is home to many Sri Lankan migratory water birds. Most popular among visitors are the large Flamingo birds that flock to the site for a thousand flocks at a time. Because of the flamingo birds, covering the entire area of the main Bundala lagoon with pink threaded carpet is a beautiful sight. Bundala is a popular spot for elephants. It is home to many species of mammals, reptiles and butterflies. This is a great place to watch wildlife.

There is a huge Buddha statue in the Weherahena Temple. It is painted in very bright colors. There are hundreds of painted scenes to show the life of the Buddha. There are three underground floors. The walls are decorated with murals depicting the life of the Buddha. There you will find a Shrine Room where you can donate.
